Memes, text posts, and images such as this are all over social media. Sadly, so are many others espousing far different and less loving attitudes. People like me who default to these views, have a very difficult time understanding why these sentiments are not the default values for everyone.
If we all look out for each other, we all win.
- Unless you want more stuff than I have. So you steal my stuff.
- Or you disagree with me. Even though I can prove what I’m saying, you think I’m wrong.
- Or I look different than you do, and wear funny clothes. So I’m of less value in your eyes.
- Or we’re from different places. And your place is superior, somehow.
- Or you worship a different God. But, there’s only one God. Yours. Not mine.
- And now we’re all fighting. I don’t get it.
We are Different.
- But we can still be kind.
- We can still be respectful.
- We can still share.
- We can still live in peace.
- We can still Choose to Love.
I choose Love. I choose Inclusion.
I choose Empathy. Compassion.
Equality. Dignity. Diversity.
I choose Community. Kindness.
Integrity. Honesty. Respect.
I choose Justice. I choose Facts.
Peace. The Planet.
I choose Humanity.
I choose Love.
I agree with your beliefs and would love to see a world where everyone looks out for others, truly believing in karma and someone meeting their needs when necessary. But wishing for a future world that Gene Roddenberry envisioned with no wars, no disease, and few negatives regarding life in any context is living in a dream world. You and I can continue loving others and ourselves, but there will always be those who hate us for no good reason. Why? Because diversity is in our genes. Wanting all people on the same page is asking for a society of robots. Maybe Earth will have that when AI takes over.
